Agartala: Jan 20: On the occasion of Police Week, a 15-year-old student, Tapashree Chakraborty, has been appointed as the District Superintendent of Police (SP) for West Tripura for the day. Tapashree, a resident of Sadhutilla area, arrived at the police headquarters in the District SP’s car on Monday, where she was greeted with salutes from other police personnel. She sat in the SP’s chair and reviewed the entire functioning of the West Tripura police district for her one-day appointment.
The West Tripura SP stated that on Monday, students were assigned responsibilities at all the police stations and the SP office across the district. They were made aware of how the police carry out their duties and what tasks they must perform according to their routine. He emphasized that many students dream of becoming police officers from a young age, and today they were given the opportunity to experience it firsthand. The initiative is aimed at motivating students and sparking greater enthusiasm among them.
Addressing the students, the SP encouraged them to stay away from drugs and focus on their studies to fulfill their personal and parental dreams. On this day, a student even sat in the chair of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of various police stations in the district and wrote case files. The primary goal of this initiative is to familiarize students with the work of the police, especially ensuring that they do not take the law into their own hands during incidents and instead cooperate with the police. This unique program is being carried out by various police stations in the state to create awareness among the youth.
