Former Tripura Chief Minister and current MP Biplab Kumar Deb on Thursday participated in a Tiranga Rally organised by the No. 9 Banamalipur Mandal as part of programmes being held ahead of the 80th Independence Day.
The rally was organised under the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, which seeks to encourage citizens to connect with the national flag and remember the sacrifices made during India’s freedom struggle.
BJP workers, activists and local residents participated in the programme, carrying the Tricolour and spreading messages of patriotism and national unity.
Speaking to media persons during the rally, Deb said Tiranga Yatras were being organised across the country as part of an initiative of the Government of India to remind citizens about the contributions and sacrifices of freedom fighters.
He said the campaign provides an opportunity for people to learn more about the country’s freedom movement and recognise the role played by those who fought for India’s independence.
Deb said BJP workers and activists were participating in the campaign to take the message of patriotism, unity and respect for the national flag to different sections of society.
Highlighting the importance of involving young people in such programmes, the former Chief Minister said the Tiranga Yatra could help generate greater interest among the younger generation in the history of India’s independence movement.
He expressed hope that young people would learn more about the struggles faced by freedom fighters and understand the sacrifices that ultimately led to the country’s independence.
Deb said programmes centred on the national flag also play an important role in strengthening public awareness about India’s freedom struggle and preserving the memory of those who contributed to it.
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign has seen rallies and other programmes being organised in different parts of the country in the run-up to Independence Day, with citizens encouraged to participate in activities associated with the Tricolour.
The Banamalipur programme was part of similar activities being held in Tripura to mark the occasion and promote public participation ahead of Independence Day celebrations.
