Agartala: Ahead of the upcoming Sharadiya festival, the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) held a meeting to review civic preparations and ensure uninterrupted services for residents and visitors during the festive season.
The meeting was chaired by AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder at the corporation’s conference hall and attended by senior municipal officials and corporators. With a significant increase in footfall, traffic and public gatherings expected during the Puja days, the meeting focused on strengthening civic infrastructure and ensuring timely delivery of essential services.
Officials reviewed arrangements related to cleanliness, drinking water supply, street lighting, drainage, roads and traffic management, all of which are likely to face additional pressure during the festive period. The Mayor assessed the situation in different parts of the city and discussed measures to prevent inconvenience to residents and visitors.
Special emphasis was laid on maintaining civic services around Puja pandals, major roads, marketplaces and other locations expected to witness large gatherings. Officials were directed to ensure that sanitation and other essential services remain functional not only during the Puja days but also in the days leading up to the festival.
The meeting also stressed the need for close coordination between municipal officials, elected representatives and field-level workers. Corporators and officials were asked to monitor conditions in their respective areas and take prompt action to address civic issues.
The AMC also discussed measures to keep Agartala clean, attractive and citizen-friendly throughout the festive season. Particular attention was given to preventing the accumulation of waste and ensuring that basic amenities remain available at key locations.
Mayor Dipak Majumder said the Sharadiya festival belongs to everyone and assured that the civic body would give priority to people’s convenience and safety.
“People’s convenience and safety will remain our priority, and civic services will be managed accordingly throughout the festive days,” the Mayor said.
The meeting concluded with a call for coordinated efforts at all levels to ensure smooth civic management during the festival and enable residents and visitors to celebrate the Sharadiya festivities without disruption.
