Agartala: April 01: The formation of the Eighth Pay Commission is under consideration by the Tripura government, and a decision will be made at an appropriate time. This information was shared by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy in response to a question from MLA Gopal Chandra Roy during the question-answer session in the state Legislative Assembly today.

The Finance Minister informed that on January 16 of this year, the central government announced the formation of the Eighth Pay Commission. However, no state in India has yet made a final decision regarding the establishment of the Eighth Pay Commission. He emphasized that the Tripura government will make a decision on this matter when the time is right.

In response to a separate query from MLA Sudip Roy Barman, the Finance Minister stated that the state government has already presented the state’s financial status in full detail to the 16th Finance Commission. He added that the Finance Commission had praised the state’s financial condition.

Minister Singha Roy also discussed the regular disbursement of Dearness Allowance (DA) to state government employees and pensioners. He assured that the state government is making efforts to gradually reduce the gap in the DA provided to state employees in comparison to those receiving DA from the central government. This reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to improving the financial well-being of its employees and addressing disparities in allowances.

The Finance Minister’s statements indicate that while the matter of the Eighth Pay Commission is being carefully considered, the government remains focused on ensuring the financial stability of the state and improving the conditions for its employees.
