Imphal: April 04: In a significant political development, Assam Chief Minister and North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to visit Manipur on June 10. This will be Sarma’s first visit to the state since the recent outbreak of violence that has rocked the region. His visit is seen as a crucial move in addressing the ongoing tensions in Manipur and may play a pivotal role in shaping the state’s political landscape during these challenging times.

Ahead of his visit, a delegation of Manipur MLAs met with Sarma to discuss the situation. While the specific details of their conversation remain undisclosed, MLA Abdul Nasir from the Lilong Assembly Constituency took to social media, revealing that the meeting focused on promoting peace and harmony in the state. Nasir’s post underlined the shared goal of resolving the conflict and fostering a conducive environment for dialogue and reconciliation.

The visit comes at a time when Manipur has been grappling with ethnic tensions and violence, leading to widespread unrest and dislocation. Sarma, known for his leadership in the region, is expected to offer guidance and support, drawing on his experience with managing complex political situations in the Northeast. His presence is likely to bring both a sense of reassurance and heightened political engagement from various stakeholders in the region.

As the situation in Manipur continues to evolve, Sarma’s visit is seen as an important step in restoring peace and stability, while also signaling a unified approach from the political leadership of the Northeast in addressing regional conflicts.
