Agartala: May 04: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today directed officials to complete the ongoing works of covered drains and road construction in Agartala city within the stipulated timeframe. Dr. Saha made the statement during a visit to inspect development activities across Wards 16, 20, and 32 under the Agartala Municipal Council.
Beginning his tour in front of the Agartala Town Hall, Dr. Saha visited key locations including Santipara, Kshetramohan School, Netaji Chowmuhani, Netaji School, the Forest Office, Howrah Riverfront Project, Singhapara, RMS Chowmuhani, Badurtoli, and Ramnagar 1 to 4. During the inspection, he reviewed the progress of several infrastructure projects and addressed local issues faced by residents.
Dr. Saha highlighted that significant development has taken place in the 8-Town Baradowali Assembly Constituency, especially in terms of roads and drains. While acknowledging complaints from residents in some areas regarding drainage, he noted that many of these issues have already been resolved. He also identified instances of encroachment and instructed officials to take necessary action, particularly where proper covered drains are required.
In the Shantipara area, Dr. Saha directed attention toward maintenance of a local pond, emphasizing the broader goal of ensuring effective drainage and eliminating encroachments. He stressed the importance of completing essential roadwork without delay.
“We don’t just visit during elections but also in normal times,” Dr. Saha said, reinforcing his commitment to continuous development. He also inspected progress at Kshetramohan School.
Accompanying Dr. Saha during the visit were Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, West District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Urban Development Secretary Abhishek Singh, and CEO of Agartala Smart City Ltd., Shailesh Kumar Yadav, among other senior officials.
