Agartala, May 26: Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar visited Unakoti district on Sunday to review the district’s law and order situation and hold discussions with senior police officials. The meeting was convened at the district police headquarters, where the DGP assessed ongoing operations and emerging challenges.

Present at the meeting were Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Officers-in-Charge (OCs) from various police stations, and senior officials from other security departments. The DGP was briefed on the overall crime statistics, response strategies, and progress in maintaining public safety.

During his interaction, DGP Anurag appreciated the efforts of the Unakoti district police and revealed that the crime rate in the region has dropped by 24% so far this year—a significant achievement attributed to proactive policing and community engagement.

He emphasized the importance of strengthening coordination with the public as a means of ensuring effective and sustainable policing. “Our primary focus is on building strong public-police partnerships. Collaborative policing is the way forward, and we will continue to intensify efforts in areas that still require attention,” he said.

The DGP also highlighted the ongoing initiatives under the ‘Nesha Mukta Tripura’ (Drug-Free Tripura) campaign and encouraged officers to maintain momentum in tackling drug abuse, vehicle theft, and other crimes.

Calling for a community-centric approach, DGP Anurag reiterated that citizen involvement is crucial in maintaining law and order. “We are working hand-in-hand with citizens to create a peaceful and secure environment,” he added.

His visit and remarks reflect the state police’s evolving strategy—one that prioritizes transparency, community trust, and modern policing methods to address both urban and rural security challenges.
