Agartala: May 10: A group of job aspirants staged a protest on Tuesday in Agartala, demanding the immediate completion of the Jail Warder recruitment process, which has reportedly been delayed for over a year. The protestors blocked the road near the office of the Inspector General of Prisons at Jail Road, expressing their frustration over the prolonged uncertainty.

According to the protestors, the recruitment process for 249 posts of Jail Warder began in 2022, and physical tests were conducted in December of the same year. However, the final results have yet to be declared, leaving aspirants in a state of anxiety and frustration.

“We have submitted deputations multiple times to the concerned authorities, but we are not getting any proper response. We came today to meet the IG Prisons in person to understand the reason for the delay, but no one addressed our concerns,” said one of the aspirants while speaking to the media.

The agitators, hailing from various districts of Tripura, joined the protest with the hope of drawing the administration’s attention to their long-pending demand. Many of them have been waiting for updates on the recruitment for nearly 18 months, affecting their career plans and livelihoods.

The protest led to a temporary disruption in traffic on Jail Road. Eventually, police personnel from East Agartala Police Station arrived at the spot, detained the demonstrators, and cleared the road to restore normal movement.

The aspirants have alleged that despite their repeated attempts to communicate with the authorities through deputations and requests, their concerns have been consistently ignored. They have now appealed to the state government to intervene and ensure the swift completion of the recruitment process without further delay.
