Agartala, July 30: A delegation from the Tripura Tea Planters’ Association paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha at his official residence on Wednesday, emphasizing the shared goal of developing the state’s tea industry.
During the meeting, members of the delegation presented a memento to the Chief Minister as a gesture of goodwill and appreciation for the state government’s initiatives to support the sector. The interaction focused on the current status of the tea industry in Tripura and discussed new strategies to strengthen its growth.
The delegation highlighted the need for modern infrastructure, better market linkages, and increased promotional efforts to make Tripura tea more competitive at the national and global levels. Chief Minister Dr. Saha assured the association of the government’s continued support and stressed that the tea industry has significant potential to boost employment and economic growth in the state.
Present at the meeting were Sameer Ranjan Ghosh, Chairman of the Tripura Tea Development Corporation (TTDC); Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce; Maniklal Das, Managing Director of TTDC; Anjan Das, Chairman of the Tea Planters’ Association; Bhaskar Prasad Chaliha, General Secretary; and other senior members of the association.
The discussions reflected a collective commitment to work towards the sustainable development of the tea sector in Tripura. Both sides agreed that collaboration between the government and industry stakeholders is vital for increasing production, improving quality, and exploring new markets for Tripura tea.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with a promise to continue close coordination for the advancement of the state’s tea industry.
