New Delhi, Aug 29:
Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP from West Bengal, Mahua Moitra, has once again stirred political controversy with her remarks, this time targeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Her comments, made in Nadia district on Friday while responding to questions on illegal infiltration, have triggered a sharp backlash from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari strongly condemned Moitra’s statement, calling it reflective of the “desperation and frustration” within both the TMC and the Congress. He accused opposition leaders of resorting to “provocative and abusive language” against top elected representatives.

Bhandari said, “Leaders like Mahua Moitra and Rahul Gandhi — the so-called political urban Naxals — are disturbed by the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working for the upliftment of the poor. Their frustration and anger are visible in their repeated attempts to incite violence against the Prime Minister and the Home Minister.”

He further alleged that while opposition leaders publicly preach non-violence, their remarks betray an effort to provoke young people against national leadership. Referring to an earlier comment by Rahul Gandhi, where he urged youth to “beat the Prime Minister with sticks,” Bhandari said such statements highlight an “urban Naxal mindset” that undermines Indian values and culture.

“These leaders insult the poor, abuse elected officials, and disregard constitutional values,” Bhandari added, stressing that their intentions are against the nation’s interests.

Meanwhile, political tensions have been further heightened by a controversial statement from Congress leader Ajay Rai against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Reacting to this, Bhandari said Congress leaders were frustrated because the nation was united and their “lies” were being exposed.

With both TMC and Congress under fire, the BJP has sought to portray the remarks as part of a broader opposition strategy to attack national leadership through divisive rhetoric.
