Agartala, Sep 7: The Tripura government on Saturday released an additional Rs. 10 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support people affected by last year’s devastating floods. The amount has been handed over to the Revenue Department for distribution among the victims as part of ongoing disaster relief measures.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), this is the fourth installment of financial assistance released so far, taking the total post-flood relief disbursed from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to Rs. 35 crore.

The mid-August floods of last year were among the most destructive in recent history, claiming 24 lives and leaving a trail of large-scale destruction across the state. Official estimates pegged the total damage at over Rs. 15,000 crore, with nearly 17 lakh people affected by inundation, loss of crops, destruction of homes, and disruption of livelihoods.

The CMO stated that the government has prioritized timely and adequate relief measures for the victims. “The Chief Minister’s Relief Fund is being continuously utilized to provide support to the affected families. The fourth installment reflects our commitment to ensuring that no victim is left without assistance,” an official said.

Alongside financial relief, rehabilitation measures, including restoration of basic infrastructure, compensation for crop loss, and rebuilding of damaged houses, are being implemented in coordination with multiple departments. The government has also sought central assistance to further strengthen relief and recovery operations.
