Agartala, Nov 12 — Chaos broke out in front of the main gate of the Netaji Subhas Regional Coaching Centre (NSRCC) on Wednesday after parents of trainee athletes staged a protest, alleging misbehavior and high-handedness by the management of the sports council.

The agitated parents accused the authorities of treating them disrespectfully and claimed that individuals with no prior connection to sports had taken control of the complex’s administration. “They know nothing about sports, yet they have assumed charge of this premier coaching centre. Parents who regularly visit to check on their children’s progress are being barred from entering the premises. We are being treated like outsiders, as if we can be thrown out at any moment,” said one of the protestors.

According to eyewitnesses, the demonstration began in the morning and quickly drew attention from local residents and trainees. The protestors raised slogans demanding accountability and immediate intervention from the higher authorities of the Sports Department. They alleged that the current management’s attitude was undermining the spirit of the institution, which was established to nurture young sporting talent in Tripura.

Some parents also claimed that the restrictions on entry had created communication gaps between trainees and their families, leading to growing frustration among guardians. “We are not here to interfere in training; we only expect transparency and respect,” another parent remarked.

The situation remained tense for a brief period before local police and officials intervened to pacify the crowd and restore order. Authorities have reportedly assured the parents that the matter will be looked into and necessary steps will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

Normalcy was later restored at the NSRCC campus, though concerns among parents continue to simmer.
