Rajya Sabha Member Rajib Bhattacharjee took part in an important meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare held in New Delhi on Friday. The meeting brought together MPs, experts, and officials to review pressing issues in the public health sector and discuss strategies aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery across the country.

After the meeting, Bhattacharjee shared details through a social media post, noting that the committee engaged in extensive, meaningful, and productive deliberations. According to him, the discussions covered a wide range of subjects related to public health, family welfare, medical infrastructure, and policy interventions required to address emerging challenges. He underscored that such interactions are vital in shaping robust policies that directly impact the well-being of citizens.

Bhattacharjee highlighted that the Parliamentary Standing Committee serves as an essential platform for evaluating the performance of existing health programmes, identifying gaps, and recommending actionable improvements. The committee’s role is not limited to oversight, he said; it also contributes to long-term planning aimed at enhancing the quality, accessibility, and affordability of healthcare services.

The meeting reportedly focused on reviewing ongoing national health schemes, examining concerns related to disease prevention, maternal and child health, and the need for improved coordination between central and state agencies. Discussions also touched upon strengthening medical infrastructure, expanding digital health initiatives, and raising public awareness on preventive healthcare.

Bhattacharjee reaffirmed his commitment to contributing actively to the committee’s work, noting that informed policymaking is essential for building a resilient and inclusive healthcare system. He expressed confidence that the insights gathered during the meeting would help advance meaningful reforms in the health and family welfare sectors.

The session concluded with members agreeing to continue collaborative efforts to ensure better healthcare outcomes for people across the country.
