Agartala: Tripura Governor Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Monday held a detailed interaction with the Tripura Merchant & Traders Association at Lok Bhavan, Agartala, focusing on strengthening the state’s trade ecosystem, easing business operations, and addressing challenges faced by the trading community. The meeting aimed at fostering constructive dialogue between the Raj Bhavan and key stakeholders from the commercial sector.

During the session, the Governor highlighted the crucial role played by traders and small business owners in driving the state’s economy. He emphasized that a vibrant trade network not only supports revenue generation but also creates employment opportunities across urban and rural pockets. Shri Nallu assured the association that the government remains committed to building a conducive environment where businesses can flourish without administrative hurdles.

Members of the Traders Association presented a range of issues, including concerns related to market infrastructure, transportation bottlenecks, taxation difficulties, and the need for streamlined licensing procedures. They also sought the Governor’s intervention in improving digital facilities for traders, expanding storage capacities for perishable goods, and enhancing coordination between departments dealing with commerce and industries.

The Governor acknowledged the challenges raised and assured that all genuine concerns would be communicated to the relevant departments for prompt consideration. He stressed the importance of regular consultations between government authorities and trade bodies to ensure transparency and efficiency in policy implementation.

Shri Nallu also encouraged the trading community to adopt modern business practices, including digital payment systems, e-invoicing, and online marketing platforms to expand their reach. He noted that Tripura’s strategic location offers great potential for cross-border trade with Bangladesh and for expanding access to Northeast markets.

The meeting concluded with the Governor reaffirming his commitment to supporting traders and merchants as vital pillars of Tripura’s economic growth. Representatives of the association expressed appreciation for the opportunity to share their views directly with the Raj Bhavan and welcomed the Governor’s assurance of continued cooperation.
