Mumbai, Jan 21: Actor Nitin Rao, who stars alongside Emraan Hashmi in the latest release Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, has lauded the Bollywood star for his humility and grounded nature on set. Nitin shared that despite Emraan being a senior and established actor, he never imposed any sense of hierarchy, making the working environment comfortable and collaborative.
Speaking about his experience, Nitin said, “Working with Emraan Hashmi was extremely enriching. From day one, he made me feel at ease. There was no sense of hierarchy or pressure. Our conversations were natural, and our scenes flowed effortlessly.” He added that Emraan’s calm and restrained approach helped him remain present during performances, allowing their scenes to organically build off each other. “There was no nervousness from my side because he creates a very relaxed environment,” Nitin noted.
Nitin, who has previously appeared in projects such as Kaun Pravin Tambe?, Darbar starring Rajinikanth, and Samrat Prithviraj, revealed that Taskaree was an instant yes for him. “It felt like a homecoming,” he said, referring to his earlier collaboration with the same production house. “There was an immediate sense of trust and familiarity, and everything clicked during the audition.”
What intrigued him most was the stark contrast between his earlier roles and his character in Taskaree. “In Kaun Pravin Tambe?, I played a gentle, soft-spoken real-life character. In Taskaree, I’m part of Mumbai’s smuggling underworld — rough, tough, and deeply entrenched in crime,” he explained.
Reflecting on the emotional core of his role, Nitin shared that it was completely opposite to his real-life personality. “I’m calm, positive, and into yoga and mindfulness. Playing someone who thrives in chaos and violence pushed me far out of my comfort zone,” he said, adding that the positive audience response has made the risk worthwhile.
Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web also stars Sharad Kelkar, Amruta Khanvilkar, Zoya Afroz, Nandish Sandhu, and Anurag Sinha.
