Agartala, February 8:
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday launched a sharp political attack on alliance partner TIPRA Motha, accusing the party of deliberately misleading people, creating unnecessary sentiments, and failing to run the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) effectively.

Speaking at a party-joining programme at Khumulwng, the headquarters of the TTAADC, the Chief Minister alleged that TIPRA Motha leaders were more focused on manufacturing controversies than working for development. “From the moment they wake up, they only think about how to create new issues and confuse people,” Saha remarked, accusing the party of fostering rebellion and unrest.

Referring to the recent controversy over the formation of a Nagar Panchayat at Bishramganj, the Chief Minister said TIPRA Motha had spread misinformation by claiming that ADC land was being taken away. Clarifying the matter, Saha said townships could be developed within ADC areas and Nagar Panchayats formed in non-ADC areas strictly as per demand and legal provisions. “No officer can illegally alter jurisdictional boundaries. They are bound by law and accountable to courts,” he asserted, dismissing disputes over maps and boundaries as administrative issues.

Highlighting the BJP government’s achievements, Saha said Tripura had emerged as a model state in governance and law and order. “NITI Aayog has declared Tripura a front-runner state. We believe in development through work, not confusion,” he said.

Calling for unity or ‘Thansa’, the Chief Minister stressed harmony among tribals, Bengalis, Manipuris and all communities, saying unity in diversity was key to Tripura’s progress.

Saha also alleged irregularities in the functioning of the ADC, particularly in recruitment and financial decisions taken without state government concurrence. On the occasion, 482 voters from 113 families, earlier associated with TIPRA Motha and CPI(M), formally joined the BJP, underscoring growing political friction ahead of the TTAADC elections.
