Agartala, Jan 23:
The capital city of Tripura witnessed a vibrant and emotionally charged spectacle on Friday as Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan organized its iconic annual rally to commemorate the 129th birth anniversary of legendary freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The event, deeply embedded in Tripura’s cultural and patriotic ethos, drew massive participation from students, teachers, dignitaries, and citizens from all walks of life.

The rally was graced by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, and other prominent personalities, who joined thousands of enthusiastic spectators lining the streets. Commencing from the premises of Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan, the colorful procession moved through key areas of Agartala, transforming the city into a canvas of patriotism.

Eye-catching tableaux and thematic displays highlighted pivotal moments from Netaji’s life, the sacrifices of the Indian National Army, and India’s broader freedom movement. Alongside historical narratives, the rally also addressed contemporary social concerns such as drug addiction, while cultural presentations like Raas Leela added a traditional flavor, reflecting the diversity and spirit of Tripura.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha described Netaji as a timeless symbol of courage, sacrifice, and nationalism. He praised the dedication of the students and teachers of Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan for preserving this proud tradition over the decades. “This rally is not merely a celebration but a heartfelt tribute to Netaji’s invaluable contribution to India’s independence,” he said.

Dr. Saha further noted that January 23 is now officially observed as Parakram Diwas, honoring Netaji’s legacy, and urged the youth to draw inspiration from his fearless stand against injustice.

Founded in 1948 for children of Partition-displaced families, Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan has upheld Bose’s ideals with unwavering commitment. First held in 1951, the rally marked its 74th edition this year, reaffirming its status as one of Agartala’s most cherished patriotic traditions and a living tribute to Netaji’s indomitable spirit.
