Agartala: Feb 25: During the ongoing Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education, serious allegations have been raised against Tofazzal Hossain, the MLA of Boxanagar constituency, for allegedly disrupting the exam atmosphere at Nagar High School on the first day of the exams, February 24, 2025. According to reports, the MLA entered the examination center without authorization and was seen standing among the examinees, which reportedly created confusion and disturbed their concentration. Witnesses claim that Hossain raised his hand in a manner that disrupted the flow of the examination, causing anxiety among the students.

The incident has raised significant concerns about the role of the local education authorities and the Tripura Board of Secondary Education. Typically, the entry of any individual other than examination staff is strictly prohibited in exam centers. Even parents are not allowed to enter, in order to maintain a calm and focused environment for the students. Given these regulations, the presence of a sitting MLA inside the examination hall has prompted questions about how he gained access and whether proper protocols were followed.

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has strongly condemned the MLA’s actions, accusing him of misusing his position to disrupt a critical educational process. The NSUI has demanded that the Tripura Board of Secondary Education and the state’s education department take immediate action. They have called for legal proceedings against Tofazzal Hossain, demanding that the authorities file a case against him for his unauthorized presence at the examination center. The organization has also questioned whether the education department failed in its duty to enforce examination protocols.

The incident has sparked a wider debate about the influence of politicians on educational matters and the importance of safeguarding the integrity of public examinations.
