Quetta, Dec 23: Several Baloch families on Tuesday staged a protest in Pakistan’s Balochistan province against the alleged enforced disappearance of four members of a single family in Kech district, intensifying concerns over human rights violations in the region.

According to the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), the missing individuals include two women and two men — Fareed Ijaz, Mujahid Dilwash, Hani Dilwash, and Hair-Nisa Wahid — who were allegedly picked up by Pakistani security agencies. The families of the victims have been holding a peaceful sit-in protest in Tejaban village, demanding the immediate and safe return of their loved ones.

In a statement shared on social media, BYC said the protesting families have received no official information regarding the whereabouts of the missing persons. “Their protest is peaceful, yet their voices are being ignored. The families have made it clear that they will not end their demonstration until all four members are recovered safely,” the committee stated. It also appealed to residents of nearby areas to stand in solidarity and speak out against enforced disappearances, which it said have devastated countless families across Balochistan.

Condemning the incident, BYC expressed full solidarity with the affected families and announced the launch of a five-day awareness campaign highlighting the growing cases of enforced disappearances of Baloch women. The campaign aims to draw attention to the issue and demand accountability from those responsible.

Meanwhile, the Baloch Women Forum (BWF) raised alarm over what it described as a systematic attempt to normalise the abduction of Baloch women. In a statement, the forum alleged that state institutions are deliberately violating national and international human rights laws, including protections related to women’s rights and fair trial standards.

The BWF warned that such actions are designed to suppress public reaction and avoid international scrutiny, while Baloch women continue to face grave rights violations. The forum urged immediate international intervention on humanitarian grounds, calling on global human rights bodies to take note of the worsening situation in Balochistan and act decisively to prevent further abuses.
