Agartala: July 26: Member of Parliament from West Tripura and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb chaired a crucial meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the Udaipur Zilla Parishad office complex on Saturday.
Deb, who arrived in Agartala earlier in the day, travelled directly to Udaipur to preside over the meeting. The DISHA committee, chaired by the local MP, serves as a key platform to review the progress and implementation of centrally sponsored schemes across the district.
Speaking to the media, Deb said, “DISHA meetings are conducted under the leadership of MPs across the country. These meetings help assess the current status and effectiveness of central government schemes. The aim is to ensure better coordination among departments and improve delivery on the ground.”
The meeting witnessed the participation of officials from various line departments, along with elected representatives, including members of Panchayati Raj institutions and local bodies. Discussions focused on flagship initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Jal Jeevan Mission, MGNREGA, PMGSY, and other welfare programs.
Deb emphasized the importance of timely implementation and transparency in all government projects. He urged officials to maintain regular communication with beneficiaries and ensure that the intended benefits reach the grassroots level without delay or discrepancies.
Highlighting the role of DISHA in bridging gaps between planning and execution, Deb reiterated that the Modi-led central government is committed to inclusive development and that local monitoring is essential to make that vision a reality.
The meeting concluded with directions to expedite pending works and a call for improved coordination among departments to achieve development goals effectively.
