Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister and Home Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday said that more than 70 percent of the directives issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the recently concluded DGsP and IGsP Conference in Raipur have already been implemented in the state. He made the remarks while addressing a State-level conference on the outcomes of the national security meet at Pragna Bhavan.

Dr. Saha said the state conference was a follow-up to the Raipur deliberations, where the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and top police officials discussed critical internal security issues. “Our internal security faces various threats, and crimes are evolving in new forms. Detailed discussions were held on how certain NGOs and foreign countries are funding protests and providing logistical support. A comprehensive analysis was carried out,” he stated.

Praising the role of the police, Dr. Saha highlighted that the force now handles much more than conventional crime. “Police today respond first not only to crime but also to road accidents, disasters, and crowd management. People want peace, and the police are at the forefront,” he said. He referred to Operation Sindoor and noted that India’s strengthened diplomatic standing ensures partnerships, not unsolicited suggestions. He added that prior to 2014, India’s security environment was unstable, with hostile attempts from Pakistan and China claiming the lives of many security personnel.

The Chief Minister said that Tripura has been swift in adopting the security directions issued by the Centre. “We are on the right track, but we must strengthen our system further. I urged officers to envision a new Tripura in line with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a new India,” he said. Stressing the importance of a people-friendly police force, he stated, “The uniform is an ornament and should be worn with pride. Maintaining democracy and being pro-people will enhance law and order.”

Dr. Saha reiterated his commitment to keeping policing free from political interference, calling it a “golden opportunity” for Tripura to become a model state. Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha, DGP Anurag, and senior officials were present at the event.
