Agartala, Oct 13 — Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday urged the Union government to enhance the ceiling limit for Externally Aided Projects (EAPs) in the state, citing delays in the execution of several key development initiatives due to current financial restrictions.

Dr. Saha placed the proposal before Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during a meeting in New Delhi, where he underlined the significance of EAPs in boosting Tripura’s infrastructure and overall growth. “Several crucial projects under the Urban Development and Tourism departments, as well as the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), are facing hurdles because of the existing ceiling limit. Raising this cap will enable faster implementation and better utilization of external assistance,” the Chief Minister said.

He highlighted that enhanced EAP limits would help the state mobilize more external resources for infrastructure development, improve urban amenities, and promote tourism, which are essential for Tripura’s economic progress. Dr. Saha also apprised the Finance Minister of ongoing projects that could contribute to employment generation and improved public services if funding constraints are eased.

Apart from his meeting with the Finance Minister, the Chief Minister also called on BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santhosh at the party headquarters in Delhi. Party sources said that the two leaders discussed key organizational matters, including preparations for upcoming elections and the selection of a new state president for the BJP’s Tripura unit.

Dr. Saha’s visit to the national capital is part of his broader effort to strengthen both administrative and organizational frameworks in the state while ensuring that developmental projects receive the necessary financial backing from the Centre.
