Agartala, April 8 — Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday visited the residence of BJP candidate Majee Debbarma from the Pekuajala–Jamejoynagar constituency, who was recently injured in an alleged attack by miscreants reportedly linked to the Tipra Motha Party.
After concluding an election rally in Takarjala, the Chief Minister went to Jarulbachai–Padmamohan Para to personally check on the injured candidate’s condition and review his ongoing medical treatment. During the visit, he interacted with the candidate and his family members, offering reassurance and support in the wake of the incident.
Saha assured that those responsible for the attack would face strict legal action and would not be allowed to evade justice. Speaking to reporters, he confirmed that the police have already arrested one of the accused, while another suspect is currently absconding. He added that law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing the remaining आरोपी to ensure accountability.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that he was out of the state on the day the incident occurred but had been continuously updated about the situation through official communication. He emphasized that the government is closely monitoring developments and ensuring that necessary measures are being taken.
Condemning the incident, Saha stated that such acts of violence cannot deter Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) karyakartas from carrying out their responsibilities. He asserted that the public is increasingly rejecting politics driven by intimidation and violence.
The visit underscores the state leadership’s focus on maintaining law and order during the election period, while also sending a strong message that any attempt to disrupt the democratic process will be dealt with firmly.
