Agartala, Oct 24: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday inaugurated the state-wide Mukhyamantri Sustha Shaishab and Sustho Koishor Abhiyan (MSSSKA) 8.0 at Teliamura Town Hall, emphasizing the government’s commitment to achieving 100% success in the campaign and making Tripura TB-free.
The annual health initiative is jointly organized by the Health and Family Welfare Department, School Education Department, and Social Welfare and Social Education Department to promote physical and mental well-being among children and adolescents.
Speaking at the launch, Dr. Saha said the MSSSKA campaign, started by the state government, aims to ensure the healthy growth of children through better nutrition and preventive healthcare. “This program protects against worm infections, vitamin deficiencies, and issues related to diarrhea and iron. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized children’s physical and mental development, as they represent India’s true progress,” he said.
Highlighting the campaign’s scope, Dr. Saha said that 10,59,182 children and adolescents aged between six months and 19 years will be covered from October 24 to 30. The program includes iron and folic acid supplementation, deworming, and health awareness drives across schools, tea gardens, slum areas, and orphanages.
He also underlined the campaign’s focus on mental health, hygiene, and anti-drug awareness, adding that police and security agencies are taking firm action against narcotics.
Expressing concern over the rising cases of HIV in Tripura, the Chief Minister urged the public to raise awareness and curb syringe-based drug use.
Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, ADM Khowai Abhijit Chakraborty, Health Director Dr. Tapan Majumdar, and other dignitaries attended the event. Dr. Saha reaffirmed the government’s resolve to strengthen healthcare and ensure holistic development for all children in Tripura.
