The 25th death anniversary of Sachindra Lal Singh, the first Chief Minister of Tripura, was observed with solemnity, respect, and deep reflection at the Pradesh Congress Headquarters in Agartala on Tuesday. The event, organized by the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), brought together party leaders, members of various frontal organizations, and supporters who gathered to pay tribute to one of the state’s most influential political architects.
The commemoration served as a poignant reminder of Singh’s enduring legacy and the pivotal role he played in shaping Tripura’s early political landscape. Singh, remembered as a leader of immense foresight and commitment, guided the state during a crucial formative period and laid the foundation for its administrative and democratic progress.
TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha led the gathering in offering floral tributes and reflecting on Singh’s long list of contributions. In his address, Saha highlighted how Singh’s leadership was marked by integrity, vision, and an unwavering dedication to public welfare. He noted that Singh steered Tripura through key phases of governance, helping establish a stable administrative framework that contributed to the state’s long-term development.
Saha further emphasized that Singh’s values—rooted in democratic principles, inclusive governance, and service to the people—continue to inspire present-day leaders. He described the former Chief Minister as a guiding light whose ideals remain relevant in navigating the challenges of modern politics.
Party workers and senior leaders echoed these sentiments, recalling Singh not only as a statesman but also as a compassionate leader who consistently prioritized the needs of the common people. They stressed the importance of carrying forward his legacy by strengthening democratic institutions and working tirelessly for the welfare of all sections of society.
The observance concluded with a renewed pledge by the Congress leadership to uphold the principles that Sachindra Lal Singh championed throughout his life.
