Mumbai, Jan 21: The trailer of the upcoming streaming series Daldal was unveiled on Wednesday, offering a gripping glimpse into a dark and unsettling crime drama set against the pulsating backdrop of Mumbai. Headlined by Bhumi Pednekar, the series follows the intense journey of DCP Rita Ferreira, a determined police officer on the trail of a cold-blooded serial killer.
Based on Vish Dhamija’s bestselling novel Bhendi Bazaar and directed by Amrit Raj Gupta, Daldal dives deep into a world of meticulously planned murders that reveal the twisted psyche of a ruthless killer. As the body count mounts, Rita finds herself pulled further into a labyrinth of violence, moral ambiguity, and institutional pressure. The investigation not only tests her professional resolve but also forces her to confront her own inner demons, pushing her to the brink as she races against time in a system that demands results at any cost.
Speaking about her role, Bhumi Pednekar described Daldal as one of the most intense and creatively fulfilling projects of her career. “Rita Ferreira is a woman shaped by ambition, haunted by doubt, and burdened by her past. Playing her required me to explore the fine balance between vulnerability and strength in ways I hadn’t before,” she said. Bhumi added that stepping into Rita’s world was both challenging and rewarding, as the character’s journey reflects the complexities of confronting one’s own fears and flaws.
The actress also spoke about reuniting with producer Vikram Malhotra after the success of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, calling it a “homecoming.” She expressed gratitude to Vikram Malhotra, Suresh Triveni, director Amrit Raj Gupta, and the entire team for trusting her with such a layered and emotionally demanding role. “Daldal holds a special place in my heart, and I hope Rita’s story resonates as deeply with audiences as it did with me,” she added.
