New Delhi, July 25: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure by speeding up hospital construction and expanding bed capacity across the city.

Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Delhi Secretariat, CM Gupta assessed the progress of under-construction hospitals and ongoing expansion work in existing medical facilities. The meeting was attended by Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary Dharmendra, and senior Health Department officials.

“Our government is working with a clear vision—not just to increase the number of hospital beds but to ensure world-class healthcare facilities for Delhi residents,” the Chief Minister stated.

She announced that several hospitals in Delhi will soon begin offering specialised services, including cancer care, maternal and child health, and super-specialty ICUs.

CM Gupta also reviewed updates from the Maulana Azad Medical College campus, focusing on encroachment removal and pending survey work. She instructed officials to take prompt action and ensure timelines are strictly followed.

Expressing satisfaction over the accelerated pace of hospital construction, Gupta directed that all under-construction facilities be completed within the stipulated timeframe. She also stressed the need for continuous monitoring of hospitals where ICU upgrades are underway.

Highlighting the broader aim of strengthening the public healthcare network, the Chief Minister ordered officials to expedite the operationalisation of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. She set a target of making at least 15 Arogya Mandirs functional in every Assembly constituency and urged coordination with local representatives for swift land identification.

“The timely completion of these projects will greatly increase Delhi’s bed capacity and improve access to quality healthcare,” Gupta said, underlining the administration’s focus on health as a top governance priority.
