Agartala, March 22: In a significant political development in Tripura, Dhananjoy Tripura, younger brother of former MP and senior BJP leader Rebati Tripura, joined the Tipra Motha on Saturday.
The joining took place in the presence of local MDC and Executive Member Rajesh Tripura, who formally welcomed Dhananjoy into the party fold. The development has sparked political discussions, given the contrasting positions of the two brothers in Tripura’s evolving political landscape.
While joining a political party is widely regarded as a personal choice, Dhananjoy’s decision carries broader implications due to his familial association. His brother, Rebati Tripura, has been one of the most vocal critics of Tipra Motha and its founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarman. This divergence in political alignment may have an impact on public perception, particularly concerning Rebati Tripura’s political stance and image.
Addressing the gathering during the induction कार्यक्रम, Rajesh Tripura emphasized that Dhananjoy’s decision was driven by ideological alignment. “Dhananjoy Tripura believes in our ideology. We are committed to building a discrimination-free and equal society for all communities. This is the reason he has joined our party,” he said.
The move is also being seen as part of Tipra Motha’s ongoing efforts to expand its base and strengthen grassroots support, especially among tribal communities. The party, which has emerged as a key political force in Tripura in recent years, continues to attract leaders and supporters from diverse backgrounds.
Political observers believe that while the development may not immediately alter electoral equations, it adds a new dimension to the narrative ahead of upcoming political contests in the state. The contrast between the political paths of the Tripura brothers highlights the shifting loyalties and dynamic nature of regional politics.
Dhananjoy Tripura’s entry into Tipra Motha underscores the party’s growing appeal and signals potential ripple effects within established political circles in Tripura.
