Agartala, Nov 10 — Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Monday chaired a high-level meeting at Raj Bhavan, Agartala, to review and discuss the status of gas distribution and supply across the state. The meeting brought together key officials and representatives from major energy sector stakeholders, including ONGC Tripura, OTPCL, NEEPCO, TNGCL, IGGL, NEGDCL, Indian Oil Corporation, and GAIL.

The Governor emphasized the strategic importance of ensuring uninterrupted and efficient gas supply to meet the state’s growing energy needs. He underlined that Tripura, being one of the key natural gas-producing states in the Northeast, plays a vital role in supporting both industrial and domestic energy requirements.

During the meeting, officials presented detailed reports on production, transmission, and consumption patterns, along with the current challenges faced in gas supply and infrastructure development. Discussions also focused on improving coordination between different agencies, optimizing distribution networks, and addressing issues related to demand management and pipeline connectivity.

Governor Nallu highlighted the need for greater synergy between public sector undertakings and state authorities to accelerate the expansion of gas-based industries and promote clean energy usage. He stressed that energy accessibility is essential for Tripura’s economic growth, particularly in sectors like power generation, transportation, and manufacturing.

Representatives from ONGC and other corporations assured the Governor of their continued cooperation in enhancing gas infrastructure and ensuring stable supply across regions.

Concluding the meeting, the Governor called for regular inter-agency reviews to monitor progress and ensure timely resolution of bottlenecks. He reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving energy self-reliance and sustainability, making Tripura a model state in natural gas utilization in the Northeast.
