In a first-of-its-kind initiative, local MLA Sushanta Deb publicly unveiled a comprehensive three-year development report card for Bishalgarh, outlining progress achieved across infrastructure, healthcare, education and cultural sectors. The report was presented at Jangaliya ground in the presence of local leaders, party workers and residents.
Addressing the gathering, Deb said that since 2023, Bishalgarh has undergone significant transformation through the effective implementation of various state and central welfare schemes. He credited the consistent support of Manik Saha and the coordinated efforts of local representatives and administrative officials for accelerating development in the constituency.
Highlighting key achievements, Deb pointed to the construction and upgrading of modern road networks connecting Bishalgarh to Golaghati, Boxanagar and Lakshmibil, which have improved connectivity and eased transportation for residents. Among the major projects, he mentioned the establishment of Asia’s second artificial limb manufacturing unit at Lakshmibil, describing it as a landmark initiative expected to generate employment and enhance healthcare accessibility.
The MLA also spoke about several ongoing projects aimed at strengthening public infrastructure and promoting community well-being. These include the construction of an indoor sports complex, a swimming pool, and a grand temple dedicated to Dakshineswari Maa. In the healthcare sector, he highlighted the addition of a new 50-bed block at the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital, which is set to expand medical services for the growing population.
Urban development initiatives have also been prioritised, with works such as modern drainage systems, cement concrete (CC) roads, public toilets and the beautification of the motor stand already undertaken or nearing completion. According to Deb, these projects have significantly improved the town’s civic amenities and overall aesthetic appeal.
Beyond infrastructure, the MLA underscored efforts to engage and empower youth through sports tournaments, monthly blood donation camps and cultural programmes, including Rabindra Jayanti celebrations organised in natural surroundings to promote cultural awareness and community bonding. He also noted the coordinated disaster relief measures during floods, including financial assistance provided to affected traders with government support.
The event was attended by Bishalgarh Municipal Chairman Anjan Purkayastha, Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Atasi Das and other local representatives.
Concluding his address, Deb assured residents that more developmental initiatives are in the pipeline over the next two years, reiterating his commitment to building a “new Bishalgarh” grounded in sustainable growth, cultural vibrancy and community welfare.
