Agartala: Oct 03: In a tragic incident one accused, Samarjit Choudhury (40) arrested after killing his wife and Mother-In-Law today morning. The deceased have been identified as Tanusree Choudhury (34) and Soma Acharjee(51) of ONGC.
According to the details of the incident, Tanushree Choudhury and Samarjit Chowdhury have been living separately for the past year and a half, with their divorce case currently in court. Tanushree resides at her parents’ home in the Netaji Nagar area of ONGC, while their two sons live with Samarjit.
On Saturday evening, Tanushree posted a picture on Facebook with two young men. Following this, Samarjit allegedly planned to harm his wife. That night, he went to his in-laws’ house and hid. Around 4 am, when Tanushree and her mother were returning home after offering prayers, Samarjit reportedly attacked them with a sharp weapon. When Tanushree’s mother, Soma, tried to intervene, she was also attacked. Both mother and daughter succumbed to their injuries on the spot.
Receiving the information Amtali Police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to the hospital for autopsy. After the incident, the accused fled to Madhupur, where he was later arrested. The West District Superintendent of Police, Dr. Kiran Kumar, provided further details on the case.
