Agartala, October 1: Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder has urged sanitation workers to continue their dedicated efforts to keep the Tripura capital clean and healthy, while calling upon citizens to actively participate in the city's cleanliness drive.

Majumder made the appeal while addressing a special programme organised at the Corporation premises here. The event, titled ‘Safai Mitra Suraksha Shibir’ and ‘Flagging Off of Task Force Vehicles’, focused on strengthening sanitation services as well as ensuring the safety and dignity of sanitation workers.

The programme was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp by Majumder, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, Additional Commissioner Mihir Kanti Ghosh and other senior officials.

Addressing the gathering, the Mayor expressed gratitude to sanitation workers for continuing to perform their duties despite challenging working conditions.

"The cleanliness of Agartala is possible only because of the dedication and hard work of our sanitation workers. Their contribution is invaluable," Majumder said.

He said the workers play an indispensable role in maintaining hygiene and ensuring that the city remains clean, healthy and liveable.

Majumder also appealed to residents to share responsibility for maintaining cleanliness by disposing of waste only at designated points and adhering to the guidelines issued by the municipal corporation.

He stressed that administrative measures alone would not be sufficient to achieve the objective of a clean city and that active public participation was equally important.

The Mayor said cooperation between citizens, sanitation workers and civic authorities could help strengthen the city's waste management and cleanliness system.

The programme also highlighted the importance of safeguarding sanitation workers engaged in essential civic services. Officials said the initiative was aimed at improving the sanitation mechanism while creating greater awareness about the safety, protection and dignity of workers.

The task force vehicles flagged off during the programme are expected to supplement the Corporation's efforts in maintaining cleanliness and responding to sanitation-related requirements across the city.

Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta and other officials also highlighted the contribution of sanitation workers and called for coordinated efforts by the civic administration and residents.

The organisers said sustained cooperation among sanitation workers, municipal officials and citizens would be crucial to improving public hygiene and making Agartala a cleaner and healthier city.
