Agartala, October 6: With Durga Puja and Kali Puja approaching, the Agartala West Police Station on Tuesday convened a meeting with puja organisers and representatives of local organisations to discuss security, traffic management and crowd-control measures for the upcoming festive season.
The meeting was held at Muktadhara Hall and attended by representatives of various puja committees, local organisations and police officials.
The discussions focused on maintaining law and order during the festivities, ensuring the safety of visitors, preventing untoward incidents and managing traffic congestion in areas surrounding puja pandals.
Officials also stressed the need for close coordination among puja committees, police, the administration and local residents to ensure that the celebrations pass off peacefully.
Officer-in-Charge of West Agartala Police Station, Sanjit Sen, said smooth and peaceful celebrations would require collective responsibility and cooperation from all stakeholders.
He urged citizens and puja organisers to extend their cooperation to the police and follow the guidelines issued by the authorities so that people can visit pandals safely and without disruption.
Senior police officials, including SDPO Pannalal Sen, briefed the participants on the security and management arrangements being put in place for the festive period.
The police said necessary measures would be taken to maintain peace and order across the city and ensure the safety of devotees and visitors during Durga Puja and Kali Puja.
Traffic management is expected to receive particular attention as large numbers of people are likely to visit prominent puja pandals during the festival. Police officials discussed measures to minimise congestion and facilitate the smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
The authorities also highlighted the importance of puja committees adhering to safety and administrative guidelines and maintaining communication with the police throughout the celebrations.
Officials said the administration would extend all necessary support to puja organisers but underlined that public cooperation would be equally important for ensuring a safe festive environment.
The meeting comes as Agartala prepares for the annual Durga Puja celebrations, which draw large crowds to pandals across the city.
Police authorities appealed to residents to celebrate responsibly and cooperate with security personnel to help ensure peaceful and trouble-free festivities.
