Agartala, October 6: A group of students from Assam Rifles Public Schools (ARPS) in Agartala and Udaipur interacted with Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai as part of an educational tour under the “Know Your India” initiative, officials said.

The students were accompanied by their teachers and personnel of the Assam Rifles during the interaction.

Varma, who earlier served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, welcomed the students and encouraged them to explore Maharashtra’s history, traditions and cultural diversity during their visit.

He urged the students to pursue their studies with dedication, remain connected with their roots and contribute positively to the country.

Highlighting the importance of learning through experience, the governor directed his office to facilitate a visit by the students to Mumbai Film City and arrange an interaction with Bollywood personalities.

The initiative aims to provide young participants with exposure to India’s diverse cultural and institutional heritage and promote the values of national integration and unity in diversity.

During their Mumbai itinerary, the students visited Film City and were given a guided tour of the film and television production facilities.

The visit offered them an opportunity to learn about different aspects of filmmaking and understand the creative ecosystem supporting India's entertainment industry.

The students were also exposed to aspects of governance, culture and creative industries as part of the educational programme.

Varma appreciated the Assam Rifles for facilitating the educational exposure and said such initiatives could help young people gain a better understanding of India's rich traditions while building confidence and a sense of national consciousness.

The “Know Your India” initiative seeks to supplement classroom education with practical exposure to different parts of the country, enabling students to experience its cultural diversity and institutional framework.

The students expressed gratitude for the warm reception extended to them during their visit and described the interaction and Film City tour as memorable and inspiring.

The educational tour is aimed at broadening the students' understanding of India's cultural diversity and strengthening their appreciation of the country's shared heritage, officials said.
