Agartala, October 4: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday said the state government has prepared a master plan to develop modern infrastructure in all Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Council areas, along with ongoing efforts to transform Agartala under the Smart City Mission.
Saha said the government's objective was to ensure that every section of society benefited from development and improved public services.
"The government, rising above politics, is implementing development programmes and delivering various services to the doorsteps of the people," he said.
The chief minister was speaking after inaugurating a newly constructed two-storey ward office of Ward No. 43 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation at Pratapgarh.
The ward office was constructed at a cost of Rs 97.43 lakh, officials said.
Saha said the state government was working towards the goal of ensuring that government schemes and services reached the last person in society, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of inclusive development.
He said several projects aimed at providing modern civic amenities had been undertaken in Agartala in recent years, including drinking water supply, road construction and repairs, improvement of drainage infrastructure, housing, healthcare and livelihood opportunities.
Under the AMRUT 2.0 project, drinking water infrastructure has been developed at a cost of Rs 112 crore, while 16,000 families in Agartala have so far been provided with potable water, he said.
Saha said 48 flats had been constructed for economically weaker sections, while work on two additional housing projects was underway.
"Another set of programmes will be implemented under the AMRUT 3.0 project," he said.
The chief minister also said 65 projects had been implemented across Agartala under the Smart City Mission at a cost of Rs 581 crore.
He said the government was laying emphasis on strengthening civic infrastructure as well as beautifying Agartala city.
The administration was also working to improve basic services and urban infrastructure in municipal areas across the state, he said.
Saha said the government's development plans were aimed at ensuring that residents in both urban and peripheral areas had access to better civic amenities and public services.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, South Zone Chairman Abhijit Mallick and Municipal Corporation Commissioner Saju Wahid were among those present at the inauguration.
