New Delhi, Jan 20:
Nitin Nabin was on Tuesday elected as the new National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the party’s organisational event, Sangathan Parv, held at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi. With this, the 45-year-old leader becomes the youngest person to assume the party’s top organisational post.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nabin on his appointment, extending his best wishes for strengthening the party organisation further. The event was attended by several senior leaders, including outgoing BJP National President J.P. Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, and BJP’s National Returning Officer for Sangathan Parv, K. Laxman.

During the programme, K. Laxman formally announced Nitin Nabin’s election as BJP National President and presented him with the election certificate. Union Ministers, Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states, national office bearers, state unit presidents, and members of the party’s national executive committee were also present, reflecting broad organisational participation.

The BJP had on Monday declared Nitin Nabin as the sole candidate for the post after the nomination and scrutiny process concluded without any other contenders. This paved the way for his unopposed election as the party’s 12th National President.

Nabin, who was appointed BJP National Working President on December 14 last year, received overwhelming support from the party’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, and J.P. Nadda. Senior leaders, Chief Ministers, and representatives from several states submitted proposal papers in his favour, signalling strong organisational consensus.

As per BJP rules, a candidate must be proposed by at least 20 members of the electoral college from a state and must have a minimum of 15 years of party membership. Nabin fulfilled all eligibility criteria and was formally elected by the electoral college comprising members of the BJP’s national and state councils.

His elevation is widely seen as a strategic move to infuse youthful leadership into the BJP while ensuring continuity and organisational stability.
