Sekerkote: A proud and memorable moment unfolded for Sekerkote and its residents on Saturday with the laying of the foundation stone for a modern three-storied academic building at Sekerkote Higher Secondary School. The new infrastructure, to be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹8.5 crore under the PM SHRI (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) project, is expected to significantly enhance the school’s educational facilities and learning environment.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony was graced by Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, who participated in the traditional bhumi pujan alongside teachers, students and local residents. Addressing the gathering, Bhattacharjee said the project reflects the government’s strong commitment to strengthening school education through improved infrastructure and modern facilities.

He noted that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guiding principles of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Sekerkote HS School is poised to enter a new phase of academic excellence. “Today’s initiative clearly demonstrates the government’s priority towards improving the quality of education. This building will not only enhance infrastructure but also enrich the overall learning experience for students,” he said.

Bhattacharjee added that the new three-storied structure would become a source of pride for the people of Sekerkote and provide a conducive environment for students to pursue holistic education aligned with national standards.

The occasion held added significance as it coincided with the 78th Foundation Day of Sekerkote Higher Secondary School. Extending warm greetings to teachers, students and staff, the MP acknowledged the institution’s long-standing contribution to education in the region. The dual celebration symbolised both the school’s rich legacy and its forward-looking vision.

Local residents and members of the school community expressed optimism that the new facility would open up better opportunities for learning, innovation and growth. They said the project would further strengthen Sekerkote’s identity as an emerging hub of educational development in Tripura, benefiting future generations of students.
