Political parties across Tripura came together on Thursday to observe the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, paying rich floral tributes and recalling the towering legacy of one of India’s most iconic freedom fighters. The day was marked by commemorative programmes, speeches, and reflections on Netaji’s enduring contribution to the nation’s freedom struggle, cutting across political affiliations.
At the CPI(M) state office in Melarmath, senior party leaders and supporters gathered to honor Netaji’s memory. The programme was led by CPI(M) State Secretary and MLA Jiten Choudhury, who offered floral tributes and addressed the gathering. Speaking to reporters, Choudhury described Netaji as a fearless revolutionary who challenged British colonial rule with extraordinary courage and conviction. He emphasized that Netaji’s ideas of social justice, equality, and uncompromising resistance against oppression continue to inspire struggles for a fair and inclusive society even today.
Simultaneously, the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee also observed the occasion with due reverence. State Congress President Asish Kumar Saha highlighted Netaji’s life of sacrifice and his pivotal role in mobilizing Indians against colonial domination. He recalled Netaji’s leadership of the Indian National Army (INA), describing it as a historic effort that ignited patriotic fervor among Indians at home and abroad. Saha stressed the importance of introducing the younger generation to Netaji’s ideals, urging students and youth to study his life to understand the values of unity, discipline, and national pride.
Across party lines, leaders echoed a common sentiment that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose remains a symbol of unwavering patriotism and selfless service to the nation. The observances underscored the continued relevance of his vision of a free, just, and united India, serving as a guiding light in contemporary political and social life.
