Kolkata, May 13 — The initial post-mortem report of Pritam Majumdar, son of Rinku Majumdar—who recently married BJP’s former National Vice-President and ex-West Bengal party president Dilip Ghosh—indicates that acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis may be the cause of his sudden and mysterious death on Tuesday.

Pritam’s body was discovered earlier in the day at his residence in New Town, Kolkata, under circumstances that initially sparked speculation, including rumours of a possible suicide angle. However, the preliminary forensic findings, following an autopsy conducted at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, suggest that his death was likely due to a severe medical condition rather than any self-harm.

Acute hemorrhagic pancreatitis, as described in medical literature, is a critical form of pancreatitis marked by intense inflammation, tissue necrosis, and internal bleeding within and surrounding the pancreas. The condition is triggered when pancreatic enzymes become abnormally activated inside the ducts, causing self-digestion of tissues and rupturing of blood vessels.

Authorities emphasized that a conclusive determination will only be possible after the detailed post-mortem and toxicology reports are available. Sources have indicated that Pritam had been taking multiple medications due to existing health issues, which could play a role in the final findings.

Pritam, who worked with an Information Technology Enabled Service (ITeS) company in Salt Lake’s Sector V, was employed at an office not far from his residence. His sudden passing occurred barely a month after his mother married Dilip Ghosh. At the time of the marriage, Pritam had told reporters that he supported his mother’s decision to begin a new chapter in her life, though he did not attend the wedding as he was reportedly on leave outside Kolkata.

Police and forensic teams are continuing their investigation, awaiting further medical clarity to fully understand the circumstances surrounding his death.
