Agartala, Sep 21 — On the occasion of Mahalaya, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) West Tripura district committee organised a grand Path Sanchalan (road march) in Agartala, drawing enthusiastic participation from swayamsevaks and citizens alike.

The colourful procession began on Sunday morning from Swami Vivekananda Maidan, passing through several major streets of the capital city before returning to the same ground for its conclusion. Participants marched in unison, displaying discipline and commitment, while locals gathered along the route to witness the march.

Addressing the media, Ranajit Chakraborty, Zilla Karyakarta of RSS West Tripura, said that organising a Path Sanchalan during Mahalaya has been a longstanding tradition of the Sangh. He emphasised that such events not only mark the spiritual significance of the day but also aim to spread messages of social unity and moral responsibility.

Delivering a broader social message, Chakraborty underlined the need for transformational change in society, which, he said, should rest on five core principles. “The state and the country must be built on these changes,” he added, pointing out that citizens must live with discipline, respect for righteous conduct (srestachar), and a commitment to protect the environment.

He also urged people to adopt an orderly way of life and contribute actively to social harmony, values which, according to the RSS, form the foundation of a stronger and self-reliant nation.

The event coincided with Mahalaya, a day of cultural and religious significance for Bengalis, marking the arrival of Goddess Durga on Earth. The procession, blending tradition with discipline, reflected the RSS’s efforts to link cultural heritage with social reform.

The march concluded with the pledge to uphold discipline, morality, and national unity in everyday life.
