Dharmanagar police have arrested the three main accused in connection with the sensational Prasenjit incident that recently rocked the town. The accused have been identified as Sushmita Bhattacharjee, Sangeeta Bhattacharjee, and Sourav Bhattacharjee. All three were apprehended from neighbouring Karimganj in Assam following an intensive search operation by the police.

According to official sources, the arrests were made after investigators tracked the movement of the accused, who had reportedly gone into hiding after the incident. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a police team conducted a coordinated operation in Karimganj and successfully detained the three suspects. They were subsequently brought back under tight security.

Police officials stated that the accused are the prime suspects in the Prasenjit case, which has drawn widespread attention and sparked public outrage in Dharmanagar and surrounding areas. The incident had led to heightened tension, with local residents demanding swift action and strict punishment for those responsible.

Sources further informed that the arrested individuals will be produced before a competent court today, where the police are likely to seek their remand for further interrogation. Investigators believe that custodial questioning is crucial to uncover the complete sequence of events and to ascertain the motive behind the crime. The police are also examining whether more individuals were involved in the incident, either directly or indirectly.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened in and around Dharmanagar as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward situation. Senior police officials have assured the public that the investigation is being carried out in a fair and transparent manner and that no one involved in the case will be spared.

The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in the case, bringing a sense of relief to the local community. Further developments are expected after the accused are produced in court and the investigation progresses.
