Agartala, July 23: A high-level delegation of the Tipra Motha Party, led by party founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, met with the full bench of the Election Commission of India (ECI) in New Delhi on Wednesday. The team demanded a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Tripura, citing concerns over illegal migration and its impact on indigenous communities.

The delegation included ministers Animesh Debbarma and Brishyaketu Debbarma from the BJP-Motha coalition government, TTAADC Chief Executive Member Purna Chandra Jamatia, MLA Ranjit Debbarma, and other senior leaders. They held detailed discussions with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Pradyot Debbarma stressed the need to identify and remove illegal voters. “The future of our indigenous population is at risk. If illegal voters or infiltrators are not identified, there will be no tomorrow for our next generation,” he said.

He welcomed the ECI’s assurance that a Special Intensive Revision would be conducted nationwide, including Tripura. “It’s a positive step forward,” Debbarma noted.

On the delayed implementation of the Tiprasa Accord, Debbarma reiterated that Tipra Motha had joined the government solely to ensure its execution. “If the Accord is not implemented soon, we will have to reconsider our participation in the state government,” he warned.

The meeting marks a significant moment in Tipra Motha’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the rights and future of Tripura’s indigenous communities, with electoral reforms and the Tiprasa Accord remaining key priorities for the party.
