Agartala, July 19: Following sustained public pressure and relentless campaigning, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially invited Tipra Motha leaders for a meeting on July 23 to discuss the issue of illegal migration from Bangladesh to India.

The development comes in response to repeated appeals and growing concern raised by Tipra Motha and civil society members regarding the long-standing issue of demographic change and national security. The party has consistently demanded action to protect the indigenous population and ensure that electoral rolls are not diluted by illegal infiltration.

Addressing critics, Tipra Motha Chief Pradyot Manikya DebBarma reaffirmed their commitment to the cause. “To those who question our intent—at least we are taking action. We are not looking at this issue through a political lens, but through a generational one,” said a Pradyot. “This is not just a fight for Tipra Motha or Tripura alone—this is a fight for every Indian who believes in preserving identity, security, and integrity.”

The party urged all political and social organizations to rise above partisan divides and stand united against the threat of illegal migration. “Protecting our future must come before protecting party lines. We appeal to every responsible citizen to join us in this larger national cause,” he added.

Tipra Motha has long argued that unchecked cross-border infiltration not only threatens indigenous cultures and land rights but also undermines democratic processes through manipulated electoral rolls. The meeting with the ECI marks a critical step in bringing national attention and institutional accountability to the issue.

As the July 23 meeting approaches, the party remains hopeful that concrete steps will be taken to investigate, verify, and correct voter lists while ensuring national laws are upheld to curb illegal migration.
