TMC attacked BJP leaders during relief; CM Saha calls it shameful

Agartala, Oct 8 — Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Tuesday strongly condemned the alleged attack on BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh in North Bengal, calling it “a shameful act” that exposes the Trinamool Congress’s (TMC) obsession with political violence instead of standing by people in distress.

Speaking to reporters, Dr. Saha said that at a time when large parts of North Bengal are reeling under severe floods, with thousands of people displaced and struggling to survive, such an assault on those delivering relief materials was inhumane and politically motivated.

“In a situation where people are suffering and desperate for help, attacking those bringing relief is utterly disgraceful. It shows how the Trinamool Congress prefers to indulge in political violence rather than stand beside the flood-affected,” the Chief Minister said.

Dr. Saha added that the incident reflects TMC’s attempt to divert national attention from its failures. “We have heard that a few leaders from Kolkata have come, but it’s clear this is just another drama to deflect focus from the real issues unfolding in North Bengal,” he remarked.

He further said that the people of Bengal are now politically aware and can see through such tactics. “They know who truly stands with them in times of crisis and who exploits such situations for political gain,” Dr. Saha stated.

Accusing the ruling TMC of stifling democracy in West Bengal, Dr. Saha said, “The Trinamool Congress has become like a heavy stone weighing down Bengal. The people now seek liberation from its oppressive rule.”

The Chief Minister’s remarks came amid rising tensions in Bengal following the violent incident during relief distribution in flood-hit areas.
