In a significant achievement for the education sector, Manik Saha announced that Tripura has recorded a zero dropout rate in primary schools across the state. The Chief Minister shared this milestone while replying to a question raised by Sudip Roy Barman in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.

Dr. Saha stated that the Department of Elementary Education has implemented a range of targeted initiatives to ensure that students from Classes I to V remain enrolled and actively engaged in their studies. Central to these efforts is the NIPUN Bharat Mission, which focuses on strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy among young learners.

In addition, the state has introduced the Saharsa Tripura programme aimed at supporting children’s social and emotional well-being. Schools across Tripura have been equipped with improved infrastructure, including libraries, digital learning tools, and separate toilet facilities for boys and girls. The government has also ensured the regular supply of learning and play materials to create a more engaging classroom environment.

To effectively monitor attendance and prevent dropouts, authorities are using UDISE tracking. Special training programmes have been introduced for out-of-school children to bring them back into the education system. Furthermore, residential hostels have been established in remote areas to support students facing geographical barriers.

Additional measures include the provision of stipends for children with special needs, free distribution of uniforms and textbooks, and regular parent-teacher meetings to strengthen community involvement in education.

Highlighting the collective impact of these initiatives, Dr. Saha said the government’s sustained efforts have ensured uninterrupted education for every child at the primary level. The achievement has been widely hailed as a landmark milestone, placing Tripura among a select group of states in India to achieve zero dropout rates in primary education.
