Agartala, December 1 — The Tripura government has published the official list of holidays for 2026, featuring two additional festival-related holidays for state government employees. The decision, attributed to the considerate initiative of Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, reflects the administration’s commitment to employee welfare and cultural sensitivity.

According to the newly released holiday calendar, Lakshmi Puja in 2026 will fall on Sunday, October 25. Since the festival coincides with the weekly holiday, the state government has declared Monday, October 26, as a compensatory holiday. This provision ensures that government employees can celebrate the auspicious occasion with their families without losing out on their annual leave.

Similarly, Diwali, another major festival widely celebrated across the state, is scheduled for Sunday, November 8, 2026. In keeping with the same considerate approach, the government has designated Monday, November 9, as an additional holiday. This measure is aimed at allowing employees to observe the festival of lights comfortably and without any work-related constraints.

Officials stated that these thoughtful inclusions in the holiday roster underline Chief Minister Saha’s dedication to fostering a healthy work–life balance for government staff while honoring cultural and religious traditions. The decision has been welcomed by employees, who view the move as a reflection of the administration’s understanding of the importance of family time during key festivals.

By adding these two compensatory holidays, the state government has ensured a more employee-friendly holiday schedule for 2026, reinforcing its commitment to preserving cultural values and supporting the well-being of its workforce.
