Agartala, June 1: In a fresh initiative aimed at promoting eco-tourism, the Tripura government is planning to establish a water park at Sabroom, located near the India-Bangladesh border in South Tripura district.

State Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury visited the proposed site at Ludhuwa in Sabroom on Sunday to assess the location and discuss the project’s execution. He was accompanied by Director of Tourism Prashant Badal Negi, former MLA and social worker Shankar Roy, local officials, and residents.

Speaking during the visit, Minister Chowdhury said that the eco-tourism water park project will be a joint initiative between the central and state governments. The park is set to be developed with financial assistance from the central government and logistical support from the state, with the aim of making Tripura a more attractive destination for tourists.

“The government has taken a proactive step to enhance the tourism potential of Tripura. With central assistance and state efforts, the proposed eco-tourism water park at Ludhuwa will help showcase the natural beauty of this region to national and international tourists,” Chowdhury said.

He also emphasized Tripura’s rich tourism potential, citing the state’s abundant natural beauty and biodiversity. “To put Tripura’s natural wonders on the global tourism map, world-class tourist destinations are being developed across the state under the Tourism Department’s initiatives,” he added.

The project is expected to not only enhance local tourism but also generate employment and support the region’s economy. Discussions are underway to begin construction work at the earliest.
