The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), functioning under the Rural Development Department of the Government of Tripura, has been honoured with the prestigious SKOCH Award 2025 for its flagship initiative, the Tripura Rural Intervention Project for Transformation and Inclusion (Project TRIPTI), officials said.

The award was presented during the 105th SKOCH Summit held at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi. The summit, themed “Governing Viksit Bharat,” brought together policymakers, development practitioners and thought leaders from across the country to recognize impactful governance and development initiatives.

The SKOCH Award is widely regarded as one of India’s highest independent civilian honours. It acknowledges exemplary efforts in governance and development across sectors such as social impact, digital inclusion, finance and technology. The selection process places strong emphasis on measurable outcomes, demonstrable impact on beneficiaries and the adoption of best practices that promote inclusive and sustainable growth.

TRLM had nominated Project TRIPTI for the SKOCH Awards 2025 in recognition of its innovative approach to addressing extreme poverty and social exclusion. The project is being implemented under the Innovation Fund of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. Currently, Project TRIPTI is operational in two districts of Tripura — Dhalai district, covering the Ambassa and Ganganagar RD blocks, and North Tripura district, covering the Dasda RD block.

According to officials, the initiative directly supports nearly 4,000 of the poorest and most vulnerable rural households through a comprehensive, multi-sectoral Graduation Approach. The project focuses on income generation, livelihood enhancement, financial inclusion, access to social protection schemes, nutrition support, life skills development and convergence with various government departments.

Special emphasis is placed on reaching remote and marginalized communities located far from mainstream development interventions. Through sustained household-level handholding and mentoring, Project TRIPTI helps families access government entitlements, build sustainable livelihoods, improve health and nutrition outcomes, and enhance overall resilience.

Officials described the SKOCH Award as a major recognition of Tripura’s commitment to inclusive rural development and poverty reduction.
