Agartala, October 2: The Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, is set to become a major tourist destination upon the completion of its construction work. This announcement was made by Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha during the inauguration of the Tripura Sundari Utsav-2024 at the Mata Bari Temple premises on Wednesday evening.

Chief Minister Dr. Saha highlighted the temple’s significance as a matter of faith for people from all over India, the North East, and Bangladesh, especially during Diwali. He emphasized that the temple’s development would enhance the socio-economic conditions of the surrounding area.

During his speech, Dr. Saha praised Finance Minister Pranjit Singh Roy and local MLA Abhishek Debbarma for their roles in organizing the festival. He noted that the festival, managed by the Information and Culture Department, features cultural programs by around a hundred artists from various places, marking a significant development.

Dr. Saha also mentioned that under the Prasad Project, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has allocated over 37 crores for the temple’s development. He assured that the construction work would be completed soon, transforming the temple into a prominent tourist destination. This development is expected to boost local businesses, including hotels and shops, thereby improving the socio-economic system.

The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude for the blessings of Mata Tripura Sundari and called for collective efforts to build a better Tripura. He extended his best wishes for the upcoming Durga Puja, noting that the festival adds a new dimension to the region’s cultural heritage.

Distinguished guests at the event included Gomati Zilla Parishad Chairperson Debal Debbarma, Matabari Constituency MLA Abhishek Debbarma, MLA Rampad Jamatia, MLA Jitendra Majumdar, Matabari Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Shilpi Das, and Gomati District Magistrate Tarit Kanta Chakma, among others.
