Sonamukhi, February 6:
Tripura Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Friday conducted an official inspection of ongoing tourism infrastructure projects in Sonamukhi, Kailashahar, being developed with financial support from the Asian Development Bank and under the supervision of the state Tourism Department. During the visit, the Minister directed officials and contractors to ensure timely completion of works while maintaining high-quality standards.

The Rs 70 crore project, spread over nearly 40 acres, includes the construction of an adventure park, eco-accommodation facilities such as standard, suite, and deluxe cottages, an administrative building, staff and manager quarters, a banquet hall, and boundary fencing. Chowdhury informed reporters that around 40 percent of the work has already been completed. In addition, a tourist lodge is under construction in Kailashahar town, with both projects expected to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister in the coming months.

The Minister emphasized that the Tourism Department is working with a clear vision, aiming to open all ongoing projects within the next one to one-and-a-half years, positioning Tripura as a prominent destination on the global tourism map.

Chowdhury also visited the Unakoti Tourist Lodge, where extensive renovations and infrastructure upgrades are underway. The revamped lodge will feature suite, deluxe, and standard rooms with attached toilets, a 30-seat restaurant, modular kitchen, a 50-seat conference hall, staff and manager quarters, a reception area, gymnasium, indoor games facilities, and separate washrooms for men and women.

Accompanied by senior officials including Tourism Secretary UK Chakma, Director of Tourism, former MLA Mobashwar Ali, and representatives of the construction agency, the Minister reviewed progress and expressed confidence that the upgraded lodge will soon emerge as a major attraction for visitors.

Tourism Minister Chowdhury reiterated that by modernizing infrastructure and introducing innovative projects, the state aims to harness Tripura’s cultural and natural resources to build a strong, sustainable tourism sector, generating employment and boosting economic growth.
